How We Dye Our Fabrics
Our collection of beautiful hand-dyed and hand-painted fabrics were created to enhance our designs. Our goal is to see our fabrics used on any special project you may wish to stitch — just use your imagination! Each piece of fabric has been washed in a rinse to remove the sizing, soaked in an activator, and then either hand-painted, hand-dyed, or immersed in a dye bath. Once the fabric has been cured over the next several days we have washed the fabric several times in hot water to remove any excess dye. After this process is complete the hand-dyed fabric is colour-fast.
Caring for Your Hand-Dyed Fabric
From the moment your fabric is created until it becomes part of your finished project, proper care and handling are essential. Our hand-painted specialty fabrics are individually crafted and designed to be enjoyed for years with appropriate care.
Washing Your Fabric
If you wish to wash the piece of fabric you can hand wash your fabrics, by filling a basin with lukewarm water and add a small amount of detergent (Dawn soap), and gently agitate the fabric.
Rinse thoroughly and squeeze out the excess water. It is best to not wring or twist the fabric, as this can cause wrinkles or distortions.
If you prefer a washing machine, choose the gentle or delicate cycle, using cold water. It's always best to wash your fabrics separately.
Drying Your Fabric
Once washed, place the fabric in the dryer on the delicate setting and ensure that you do not use fabric softener.
Pressing Your Fabric
After washing, please press the piece of fabric with an iron on either cotton or linen settings.
Storage & Sunlight
Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources, as they can fade or damage the dye.
